Rancho Mission Viejo Update (Groundbreaking News)

The time has come for us to break ground and to get moving on this new swim center that is about 1-year behind its original opening date. This has been a difficult time for us but nonetheless, we move forward and cross our fingers that further delays are kept to a minimum and that we open by spring 2021. I am confident that we will do so and that soon, the pool will be full of young people becoming safer and more confident swimmers.

For the past few months, we have been advertising the Founder’s Club as an introduction to the new swim center. The Founder’s Club offers a flat rate ($199.00) for all members of a family to get on the Club list and being on this Club list has its perks. For starters, lessons are discounted for the first three months (Founder’s Club fee is included and is credited to a family’s account for future lessons). The Founder’s Club also offers its families priority registration, VIP access at our grand opening, and the rights to a goodie bag filled with goods that are generously donated by local companies. To access the Founder’s Club registration page, please CLICK HERE.

We can’t wait to get going on this beautiful swim center and to make it a reality. We can’t wait for you to see all of the customer centric ideas we have come up with to make this the nicest and most convenient swim center in all the land. Here’s to a great 2021!

Message from our Founder

We are on our way to operating two year-round swim schools in South Orange County. With the groundbreaking of our new swim center in Rancho Mission Viejo, I am happy to announce that when the swim center opens, we will be the only swim lesson provider to operate two indoor swim centers in South Orange County, making life more convenient for our customers.

To celebrate the grand opening, we are offering a Founder’s Club membership for families that would like to take advantage of discounted swim lessons, priority registration, and access to our Grand Opening. To get more information about our Founder’s Club, please click HERE.

This is a celebratory time for us at Evolution Swim Academy and although we are very conscious that the pandemic is still here, we are grateful for the miracle of medicine and that soon, many of us will be able to once again show off our smiles and not have to conceal them behind masks. This makes us smile and gives us hope that an end is in sight. We celebrate this and the beginning of a new era for us, an era that will usher in a beautiful new swim center and one that will offer our families convenience and more opportunities for children to become safer and more confident swimmers.

One other way that we are celebrating is by encouraging our families at Evolution Swim Academy Mission Viejo to register for a second lesson per week at a flat rate of $100.00 per month. That’s over a 25% discount on lessons. We encourage all families to take advantage of this deal, especially our families with swimmers in our Starfish 1-3 swim levels. As spring nears, a second lesson per week may fast forward learning and may result in a swimmer being ready and confident for warmer months, where we are sure to be just a little closer to bodies of water. To take advantage of this offer, please click HERE to access the Evolution Swim Academy Mission Viejo parent portal.

Till next time, have a great month and hurray for Evolution Swim Academy Rancho Mission Viejo.

Sincerely,

Felipe Delgado | Founder & Olympic Partner | Evolution Swim Academy

Meet Hannah!

Hannah is a long-standing member of our instructor staff. She carries our most seasoned title of senior instructor as result of her commitment. No doubt, she is the reason many of your kids love swim lessons! One of Hannah’s favorite things to do in lessons is taking the time to remember personal details about her students. Whether it’s their favorite song to sing or wishing them a Happy Birthday, it’s these little things that go a long way in creating the bond between teacher and swimmer that lead to success in the pool. When Hannah is not busy teaching swim, she is working hard on her school program at IVC and hopes to get an apartment with one of her close friends. Though she says she is not much of a reader, she does enjoy BuzzFeed articles. She likes staying current on what’s trending in the world! She also loves caring for her pet bearded dragon, Cosmo, as well as visiting with her family in Ventura County. Hannah is an independent girl who shines when teaching. Her favorite thing about teaching kids is that no matter how her day is going when she hops in the pool and sees her swimmers’ smiling faces, it makes her smile too!

Level Highlight

STARFISH 1 is a melting pot, where swimmers that are new to the program and have no swim lesson experience will start their journey. This is generally the case for swimmers ages 2 and up. This is also the place where our Water Bug swimmers (Parent & Me lessons) will graduate to, although Water Bug swimmers have also been known to graduate straight to Starfish 2.

A few things to know about this level:

  • This level is instructed in a small group lesson plan (3:1 ratio, students to instructor). We offer an alternate option for students that have a tough time adjusting to swim lessons.
  • Students will learn to be comfortable in the water, both above and beneath its surface.
  • Most, if not all skills, are instructor assisted, making sure that students learn at a pace that will not frighten them and promotes trust and a positive learning environment.
  • For a student to graduate this lesson plan, they must be able to perform all skills, like the back-float, submersion drills, and climbing in and out of the pool, with confidence and having conquered a fear of the water. Most of these drills will be instructor assisted and Starfish 2 will see these students master these skills on their own, with minimal instructor intervention.

Chocolate Dipped Krispie Treats

YIELD: 2 DOZEN TREATS | PREP TIME: 25 MINUTES | COOK TIME: 4 MINUTES | TOTAL TIME: 29 MINUTES

Ingredients:

  • 3 tablespoons butter, plus extra for buttering pans
  • 1 (10-ounce) package regular marshmallows or 4 cups miniature marshmallows
  • 6 cups crisp rice cereal
  • 12 ounces semisweet chocolate (baking chocolate or chocolate chips)
  • Valentine’s sprinkles

Directions

  1. Butter a large (11X17-inch) rimmed baking sheet or two 9X13-inch pans. Set aside.
  2. In a large saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the marshmallows and stir until melted and smooth. Remove from the heat and stir in the rice krispies. Press the mixture into the prepared pan(s) and set aside to cool for about an hour.
  3. Using a 2 to 3-inch heart-shaped cookie cutter, press the cutter into the cooled rice krispie treats, removing the heart-shaped treats to a wax paper or parchment paper-lined baking sheet or work space. If you minimize space between the hearts, you should be able to cut out right around 24 hearts. Feel free to do what you like with the extra scraps (we had no trouble coming up with a solution).
  4. In a microwave-safe bowl, melt 12 ounces chocolate chips on 50% power for one minute. Stir. Continue this process until the mixture is melted and smooth but not overheated.
  5. If desired, push a cookie or lollipop stick into the bottom of the rice krispie treats (optional). Holding one side of the rice krispie heart (or using the stick as a handle), dip half of the rice krispie treat into the melted chocolate and then transfer to the wax paper or parchment paper. I alternated between dipping the top half of the treat or either side of the treat. While the chocolate is still warm on the rice krispie heart, sprinkle the festive Valentine (or other) sprinkles onto the chocolate. Let the treats cool completely and the chocolate harden before serving, about 1-2 hours.
  6. Cover in an airtight container to store (they are best eaten within 24 hours).
