The holiday festivities have come and gone and we are now faced with having to follow through on new year’s resolutions that we wholeheartedly plan to incorporate into the root of our beings. Weight lose? Eat healthier? More exercise? Maybe to be a better, more understanding spouse? All of these resolutions sound great, but as is the case year after year, easier said than done.
I can tell you that personally, I did not make any resolutions for the new year. Not because I am not a goal oriented person and not because I don’t plan to better myself in 2016, but because I do not plan to set myself up to fail so early in the year. A University of Scranton research suggests that just 8% of people achieve their New Year’s goals. Those aren’t odds I’m willing to confront.
I prefer to write about ideas that I have for the new year and what I will do to make sure that they are executed. First, I want to continue to service my clients and meet their needs through innovative programming and convenience in scheduling. I want to make it easier and more enjoyable to do business with us. At the forefront will be our curriculum because there is nothing that is more important than that. If our curriculum continues to improve, it will make it easier and more enjoyable for our students to succeed at their lessons. With that, comes happy parents and with happy parents, comes word of mouth. Amazon founder Jeff Bezos once said “Advertising is the price you pay for having an unremarkable product or service.”
The very definition of service is to take action to create value for someone else. I know that 85% of my members take lessons at Evolution Swim Academy for safety. For this reason, we have 4 very effective safety lesson plans. In this example. I have taken action to service my clients needs for safer swimmers. To stop there would mean that I have provided an “expected” level of service, or the industry standard as defined by Ron Kaufman and his 6 levels of service. What I plan to do is to take it to the “unbelievable” level or level 6. To do that, I need to “wow” my clients. I know that we can provide this for you. It will not happen overnight, but rest assured that it will happen. I plan to provide an “experience” for my clients and not just swim lessons. To kick off the new year, we introduced our new Towel Service. For a nominal fee, you can have a warm towel, hand delivered to you before each lesson. Not only are we servicing our students with better swim lessons, we are also servicing parents by creating a convenient service that many can take advantage of.
I want to thank you for taking the time to read a little of what we have in store for you. There is much, much more that we will offer. This is the Olympic year and the Evolution Swim Academy ownership group consists of 6 Olympians. We want to make this year very special for our members and it all starts with safer swimmers.
Happy New Year!
